Review
The hardest working Silvertone veteran, Ray Mason, brought his four-piece band to Sally O'Brien's Pub in Union Square, Somerville, on a bitterly cold winter's night. The Ray Mason Band consists of four nice guys out to make an audience happy by playing music. Tom Shea is the shy guy on guitar. Frank Marsh, not a shy guy, plays drums (including one tasty extended drum solo) and told us he misses playing out more often. Steve Desaulniers is the well-spoken and friendly bass player.
The audience included local favorite Natalie Flanagan, who wanted to hear Ray's heart wrenching ballad, "Missyouville."
I also had a request filled, the rarely played "Newsboy's Toss." Another unusual song was "There's a Reason," a song by Ray that appeared on an early cassette-only release.
