The Banks of the Brandywine

Review

The House Of Hamill are a trio that are one half of the unpredictable and very lively part-Celtic, part-rock Enter the Haggis. We saw that band once before, a few years ago at the Spire in the main room, and it was very enjoyable seeing the somewhat more mellow (but not that much more mellow) three piece version. Consisting of married couple Rose and Brian on fiddle and guitar and sidekick Caroline on mandolin and electric bass, all their songs featured superb harmonies, and every song had very interesting intros. Most were originals, with a few instrumental covers and one or two interesting takes on traditional numbers. An enthusiastic and good sized audience seemed like a pretty good guarantee that this trio will be moving out of the Lobby Series and into the main hall next time they make a stop at this best venue in southeastern Massachusetts.
