Review

GP played the Turning Point, an absolutely tiny nightclub downstairs from a fairly nice restaurant in the small village of Piermont on the Hudson. The Turning Point is along the banks of the river, at the bottom of a steep cliff. After crossing the Tappanzee Bridge, the savvy concert goer needs to go three-quarters of the way around the rotary to reach the lower level in order to find the main street of this lovely little hamlet.

Sometimes Graham gets bored and feels like he needs a gimmick. I have seen him play a show with one song from every album he has recorded, in chronological order, with tidbits of history from the years the albums were recorded. Tonight's gimmick was similar but different. His intention was to play two songs in a row from a number of his albums. He mostly stuck to the format until super-fan Maureen requested "I'm Just Your Man" and GP complied.

Highlights included very sweet guitar work on "Success"; the repetition of the line "I saw the Big Dipper, I saw the Big Bopper" in "Brand New Book"; and another request played, "Temporary Beauty," in response to a very insistent audience member.

Geep was dressed all in black, and really blended in against the black backdrop of the Turning Point. Other times I have attended this club there was a no-picture policy posted, but tonight I was able to take a few snapshots.
