Review
Chad & Jeremy's moment of fame was just a little before my time, but of course I saw the Batman episode with their guest starring appearance, and I liked the songs I heard on the radio way back when. Plus, it was our friend Ray Mason's birthday, and he was opening the show, so it seemed like it would be a fun show to see.
Concert Going Partner and I opted for a seat in the balcony. We had an excellent view and the sound was very good, too. As a result we were too far to get any pictures. The place was packed, mostly with people our age and older, many of whom had brought their original vinyl copies of Chad and Jeremy's early '60s albums.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jeremy Clyde before the show. I was downstairs talking to Ray Mason, and Jeremy came by and Ray introduced us. We shook hands and exchanged "very pleased to meet you." He is an English gentleman, to the core. I haven't washed the hand he shook since. (<--kidding)
Chad Stuart and Jeremy Clyde have kept themselves fit and are a handsome pair of English gentlemen. They are a delightful pair of veteran musicians, both very talented and very personable. Once they hit the stage (after Ray Mason's 7 song warmup set), Jeremy did most of the talking. His wit and storytelling ability were very enjoyable. The show was built around telling the story of Chad and Jeremy's rise to fame, including a few occasions of just missing the very top rung of popular stardom. A good example of their humor was Jeremy's recounting of their decision not to release their recording of "Homeward Bound" (the Simon & Garfunkel song) as a single, only to see the song they chose instead fizzle, and the S&G version become a giant hit.
They were richly deserving of the respect and adoration the crowd gave them. Their singing and playing were top notch; all around it was an extremely enjoyable show. I purchased a live CD as I was leaving that came with a nice poster of the two.
