"Don't Break Your Lover's Heart"
Review
This concert was one in a series of free concerts presented in Hyannis for a summer audience. The Chandler Travis Philharmonic played to a scattered lawn-chair-and-blanket audience on an open-air stage right next to the Ocean Street docks at Hyannis Harbor. CGP (concert going partner) and I live on Cape Cod so we thought we'd check it out, having recently made the acquaintance of Fred, Chandler Travis's "singing valet," at another concert.
Yup, the band is as weird as they seem in the pictures. Yup, they perform in their pajamas. The music was just a little too jazzy for me, what with the horns and all, but that's hardly the point.
The sky looked ominous, but off in the distance to the west. The Philharmonic had played for a smidge under an hour when the threatening weather moved right in and -- bang! -- a thunderclap sounded right above our heads, followed by what would be a torrential downpour in just a few minutes. The musicians scampered to cover up their instruments and Chandler announced: "That's it everybody! The show's over! Run for the hills!" And everybody did.
Just another afternoon in paradise.
