Review
The Lied To's are a folk duo with a distinct country twang. Multi-instrumentalists Susan Levine and Doug Kwartler sometimes perform with a full band, but tonight it was just the two of them with their guitars, harmonica, mandolin, and their wonderful harmonies. (No banjo, there were technical difficulties.)
Opening the concert was folksinger Ric Allendorf who performed a very good half hour set of originals and one cover, a song written as an alternative U.S. anthem. The Lied To's also did one cover, Woody Guthrie's "Deportee."
Soule Homestead is a wonderful place to see a show. It's a bring a lawnchair (and a picnic if you want) sort of place. It's a working farm, and I wandered about taking photos of animals and gardens while waiting for the show to start. It was a beautiful evening, very nice weather, and I just can't think of a nicer way to spend the evening than listening to such good music in such a lovely setting.
