Review
One day after seeing my favorite married musical couple, the Kennedys, in concert at the Burren in Somerville, I was introduced to another married musical couple. When deciding what to name their band, this duo decided to take the name Crowes Pasture, which is a geographical feature in Dennis here on Cape Cod. This musical partnership is comprised of Andy Rogovin and Monique Byrne. Andy plays guitar, Monique plays banjo, and they sing beautiful harmonies. Crowes Pasture plays all original songs. Songs took inspiration from family (including their two 20-something sons), issues of social justice, and the way the world is today. Very good songwriting; very uplifting. The duo have recorded three studio albums and are working on another one. Fun fact: I knew Andy Rogovin's name from when I first joined the Cape Cod Athletic Club three decades ago, since at the time he was a top runner on Cape Cod. He has since moved away, but I was flattered that he remembered my name from the running community from all that time ago.
The concert we saw was at the Mashpee Library, a 15 minute drive from our house, just a wee bit closer than having to drive an hour and a half into the big city to see the Kennedys the night before. Who doesn't love a free afternoon show in a library from a truly talented acoustic folk duo?
