Review
Dressed in a pretty summer dress adorned with sunflowers, Grace Morrison entertained a good sized audience on a pleasant summer evening. I've been following Grace's career now for about a decade since I first saw her perform at the New Bedford Folk Festival, and I have enjoyed watching her expand her songwriting, grow as a musician, and really develop a charming and witty stage personality. Grace has a lovely singing voice that has a rural twang without being conspicuously "country" -- although her merch table did feature a t-shirt proclaiming "salt water country." She's originally from Wareham, the last mainland town before the bridges over the Cape Cod Canal.
A highlight of the show was when Grace's husband and her rapidly growing son shared the stage with her for a song or two. Her son boldly sang into the mike without a hint of the painful shyness Grace said she felt at his young age. The boy has stardom in his future.
This beautiful location, beside putting on a summer concert series of about a half dozen shows, is an equestrian training and boarding facility. It added to the appeal of this lovely evening when a trainer would come by with one of her horses. Not quite the same as seeing a concert in a pub!
