Kim Moberg with Heather Swanson ~ 2025 March 22 ~ First Encounter, Eastham, MA Kim Moberg, guitar, vocals; Heather Swanson, fiddle. Review I have been enjoying live performances by local singer-songwriter-guitarist Kim Moberg since I first heard her on a double bill with Grace Morrison in 2022. She has a strong singing voice, is a talented finger pick style guitarist, and writes profoundly about the human experience. She sings mostly her own songs, but her cover of "Both Sides Now" is extraordinary. I've heard Heather Swanson back her up on fiddle a couple of times and she really fills out the sound. Although Kim doesn't write much in the way of funny songs, her ideas are so well thought out and poetic you can't help but come away from her show with a feeling of uplift. She has a new album coming out in a few weeks, her fourth, to be titled "All That Really Matters." (Love is all that really matters.) There are some feel-good and lively songs on this new record, including "Good Women, Cheating Men." I'm looking forward to it. Kim works hard booking shows in the local area, including a couple of upcoming dates with a full band, and I'm looking forward to those. Add her to the list of local musicians I'm glad to have discovered. The First Encounter Coffeehouse is a half a block down from the Eastham Library so you can park there. Doors open a half hour before showtime. Wander in, take a seat, grab a cookie for a donation, chat up the performer or other folk music fans. That type of venue. My only complaint is they had four lights trained on the stage and there was one red light trained directly on where Kim was. Look at the pictures and you will note how much better Heather looks than Kim. (Sorry; my apologies.)
