Review
Studio Two played at The Cultural Center of Cape Cod in South Yarmouth, MA, the little hole-in-the-wall art gallery / performance venue that I like to call the Bank Vault (for obvious reasons, it's a converted bank!). The door to the vault does create an unusual backdrop to some of the photos!
Concert Going Partner and I hesitated to get tickets to this show since at last year's Studio Two performance they had made the mistake of setting up a dance floor in front of the stage, blocking everyone's view, but evidently this wasn't in the plans this year. There are still shortcomings at this venue, surprising since it seems they could be corrected. The sound is really echoey, but it seems to me that someone who knows about sound could probably install some sound baffling, if that were a priority for the venue. And the lighting continues to be pretty bad; light on the "Paul" side, dark on the "John" side. Not a big deal, but unfortunate.
Seats are not reserved, but get in line a half hour before doors open and getting the front row is your reward. In this case we were basically right in front of "Ringo," which was a great place to sit. We were a lot closer than at any of the outdoor shows.
The band did their usual magic in bringing the tunes of the early Beatles to life. A special treat at this show was a new song added to their set list, Ringo's "Yellow Submarine." They also did "Anna," a song the Beatles covered on their very first album, one I don't think I'd heard Studio Two do before.
I did take one video but the sound was so awful I refuse to post it.
