Review

Zoë Lewis admitted that she was a little tired because it was the day after Carnival, the big happy party held every August in her home town of Provincetown. But she definitely brought the spirit of Carnival with her to this duo show (with recorder player extraordinaire Roxanne Layton). The show tonight lasted about an hour and a half without an intermission, taking place in the downstairs performance space. This is better than upstairs; it has a real stage and somewhat better lighting.

This dynamic duo had great fun performing for a sold out audience, Roxanne on four different recorders, Zoë on piano, guitar, ukulele, spinning plates and juggling (!), and the both of them on spoons! You really have to see these two to understand how wonderfully entertaining the whole thing is, and how profound, nostalgic, up to the minute, sometimes laugh-out-loud-funny, and meaningful Zoë's songs are, too. She played two new songs. I am really enjoying the one in which she talks about how much better it used to be to look things up in the encyclopedia, rather than just "googling" them.
