Review

Lucky me, I got to see Beatles impersonators Studio Two for the second time in two nights. Tonight it was a very different venue, indoors, and you needed to buy a ticket instead of just showing up with a lawnchair. The boys wore their dark jackets instead of the beige ones of the outdoor gig at Rockland High last night, but then they changed into the beige for the second set. The indoor light wasn't as good for pictures -- I've noticed that at this venue other times. The sound wasn't as good for the videos -- although I do insist on sitting in the front row.

Because of the indoor performance space, this modern fab four didn't have as much room to cavort as on the outdoor stage, but they were having as much fun as yesterday, for sure. Their harmonies were just as good, Rob's (George's) lead guitar just as groovy, the microphone sharing just as authentic, the banter just as cheeky, Stephen's (John's) comments about the band just as much fun. A feature on the stage was the Wicked Witch of the East's ruby slippers under Ringo's drum kit, borrowed from an exhibit at the venue.

The medleys were breathtaking, jumping from one classic early tune to the next. A lot of the songs were the same but not all of them, and the order of the tracks was very mixed up from yesterday. This band really does vary the set from one night to the next. Toward the end of the show, during "Roll Over Beethoven," "John" jumped up onto the drum kit, "Ringo" grabbed a guitar, and the soundman took a turn on guitar! They don't always do that jam at the end of the show, but when they do, it is a treat!

This venue is part art gallery, part art school, part music room. We poked around the current art show while waiting for the concert area to open up. It's easy to find and has plenty of parking. It's the third concert we've seen here this year, and I'm sure we'll be back. The venue could use a livelier name; at least the concert room could be christened the Bank Vault Room after the most obvious feature.
