Review
This is our fourth time seeing Zoë at the Truro library, where she has played every August. It's starting to get dark by the end of the show but that just adds to the mood. A group of kindergarten age munchkins added to the fun by bopping around in front of the stage; Zoë herself came out and joined them for a round or two, proving she's part elf, as we knew all along. I've scolded Kareem a time or two for scowling too much at the drums, and he finally smiled for the camera. It may not be Garbo Laughs, but it floats my boat on this pleasant Lower Cape afternoon.
Everybody was having fun. Ron did his climb-the-doghouse trick; I got some good pictures of that. Zoë grinned at my camera in every direction. Ken Field brought his sax and added that extra sound for about half the tunes. I should mention Zoë's new song, "My Encyclopedia," a brilliant, and funny too, paean to the way we looked things up before all the online tools of today.
Brought a friend to this show (a Kennedys connection) and she was charmed, as I knew she'd be -- nobody leaves a Zoë show unhappy! Had very nice fish 'n chips on the way at Bob's Sub & Cone Family Restaurant -- the place with the old style softserve cone on the roof. Traffic wasn't too bad, since it was a Thursday; all in all, a very nice visit to the other end of the Cape!
